What are your thoughts?
I feel very passionately that, at least my students, need a lot of human interaction and hands on learning to make up for the time they spend watching t.v. and going on the computer. Additionally, I think that students learn best when they have the chance to see how something works and to make sense of it in their own terms (before applying it). Finally, I see the value in hands on learning from a modeling perspective: they need to be able to watch someone else do something before they can do it.
Others would argue that because of the day and age (as they say) even Kindergartners should be learning through technology, e.g., see a story on the projector instead of from a book.
I'm sure there is no right answer, and this is an important debate, but I try to ground myself in the question "What do I need to do today so that children will learn?" From that mindset, I am struggling to fit in the enhancements of technology into my very limited prep time.
I really would like some weigh in on this, so if you know of research or have opinions please let me know.
